A happy heart makes the face cheerful
Written @ Friday, 23 July 2010, 2:41:00 PM

I haven really being active on my blog I suppose, with only like two blog posts every week throughout the month. Reason being I was actually concentrating more on my new blog layout, cause I figured that I'll have to get everything in my blog settled down and ready and presentable in my eyes before I start publicizing my blog to the world out there.. but then again, I'm a guy who always expects the best, so for a layout to be presentable in my eyes, you can kinda guess that it's pretty high standard in accordance to my IT skills (:

Recently I've been going through alot in my life, in terms of personal needs, wants and ultimately personal gain. I've actually started working part-time so that I can fulfil my desire to have my spending power. Note, it is not that I desire money, not the affluence or the power of it, but I desire the will and ability to have and control my own earning and spending power. There's a fine line there, and I suppose some people who do part-time work will understand that point! But I'm worried that as I do my part-time jobs, I will get 'suck' into the system where money starts to control my life. Praise God that he has forewarned me of the traps ahead despite my dangerous desires :P

But still, money has not been the sbject of philosophical thoughts for me in the past few days, but rather, happiness! Happiness is defined as the quality of contentment, but that is of course, just a dictionary meaning. I guess all of us have our own definitions of happiness and what makes us happy; friends games television nature.. Our source of happiness will always be there no matter what, and therefore throughout most of our lives, we actually live quite carefree and happy lives. I was watching the show 'Las Vegas' two nights ago, the episode where a monk enters the casino and wins USD$1.35m. Despite the drama about how he was supposedly cheating, one of the few phrases he uttered was "If you are suffering, do not worry. For if you can do something about it, there is no cause to worry. If you cannot do anything about it, there is also no need to worry." Sounds kinda weird at the moment, but I suppose it takes many to take a while to digest what it actually means, and in a way it's kinda true!

BUT still, what makes me happy has not been the main subject! The main subject has been 'what KEEPS you happy?' There are plenty of things in my life that can surely make me happy! Sex, shopping, msn conversations with friends, blogging, thinking.. all these can MAKE me happy! But I've come to realized that what matters most is what KEEPS you happy! The very object of making happiness may be the obstacle towards keeping you happy. For instance, sex can make one happy, very happy indeed! Although one can have multiple sexual partners and many sex encounters in just one day for everyday of his life, that does not mean it keeps him happy. What I'm desiring for here is eternal happiness, something that will gimme happiness forever! Sex may make u happy many times, but pre-marital sex may also become an obstacle towards your eternal happiness such as marriage!

For me, the only thing so far in which I've found eternal happiness in is The Lord my God! (here goes marcus on his religious rambling!) But yes indeed it's true, for I've come to realized that while God makes me happy, he KEEPS me happy, and the feeling of happiness in me whenever I encounter him is soo strong and so peaceful, it keeps the happy fire burning in me, with the desire that it can be an everlasting flame. From there, I also realized that many objects that creates happiness for man, objects that we tend to desire, are often very solid boundaries towards the happiness that God can provide for us (: And for God to bless us with happiness all the days of our lives, we must follow his path, for "May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God, may they be happy and joyful"
